About Crimson Forest
I can still recite the first verse of the poem “Indian Summer” written by William Wilfred Campbell, a Canadian poet, that we learned in 4th Grade. It is the image created by the first two lines of the poem, “Along the line of smoky hills the crimson forest stands” that was cemented in my mind way back then. I finally painted that vivid and vibrant image of the crimson hills. My vantage point was looking through the autumn foliage which creates a rhythmic flow that compliments the tranquil and solidarity of the crimson hills behind.
The poem’s first verse:
“Along the line of smoky hills
The crimson forest stands,
And all the day the blue-jay calls
Throughout the autumn lands.”
