Commerce
By Michael Flahault
By Michael Flahault
Flahaults' grandfather and uncle were export merchants in Saigon, Vietnam, in 1906, and these items in his home were thought to be from that time. Following Vietnam, his grandfather went back to Paris,France, when his uncle emigrated to Canada, settling in Montreal. These items were retrieved from Flahualts' Grandfather’s home in Paris, France, from deep in the basement, after he passed away, and represent some of the tools of commerce from his life long ago. Freehand sketch from life, then painted with a combination of reference photo and from life.
