Qavavau Manumie Collection

Saturday, 2025-07-26

We start at 2 p.m. - 5p.m.

📍 Belleville Frameworks

We are honored to welcome a collection of Kinngait prints by Qavavau Manumie to our gallery in Belleville for the month of August. The show will be on display from July 26th to August 23rd 2025.

Qavavau Manumie is an Inuit artist and Master Stonecut Printmaker living and working
in Kinngait, Nunavut. Formerly Cape Dorset, Kinngait is a small hamlet on Baffin Island
with a rich cultural history. For 65 years, contemporary Inuit artists and printmakers have
produced the famous Cape Dorset Print Collection through their collective, Kinngait
Studios.

Qavavau’s drawings and prints are idiosyncratic and often amusing in his depictions of Inuit legends and mythology, Arctic wildlife and contemporary aspects of Inuit life. His imagination is perhaps his best friend, and his imagery of ‘the little people’ is always evolving in his work. An expert artist and storyteller, Qavavau shares how legends and
contemporary life can mingle easily in an open mind.
